Johnston's School of Irish Dance was established September 24, 1995 by Ann Johnston-Sullivan. Originally the Butler School of Irish Dance, founded in 1985 with seven students, it was passed on to Ann after she obtained her certification. Today, Ann spreads her love of the dance to students in Watertown as well as her Auburn, Fayetteville, Syracuse and Utica Schools.
Much success has come from her teaching. Local feisanna have produced numerous first, second, and third place winnings. Many students have competed and done exceptionally well at the North East Regional Irish Dance Competition--The Oirechtas. We have had six Champions qualify and advance at the World Competition held in Ireland. To top off our noteworthy accomplishments, former students, Becky Deline and Katie Honan, have become professional dancers, performing in the show Common Ground. This is just a few of the amazing endeavors our students have realized.
